A Fruity Talk

Do you also love eating fruits?
And how often do you eat fruits?
Do you know that it's good for you to eat fruits everyday? Why?
  • Fruits are low in calories and fat and are a source of simple sugars, fiber, and vitamins, which are essential for optimizing our health.
  • Fruits provide plenty of soluble dietary fiber, which helps to ward of cholesterol and fats from the body and to get relief from constipation as well.
  • Fruits contain many anti-oxidants like poly-phenolic flavonoids, vitamin-C, anthocyanins. These compounds, firstly, help body protect from oxidant stress, diseases, and cancers, and secondly, help body develop capacity to fight against these ailments by boosting our immunity level. Many fruits, when compared to vegetables and cereals, have very high anti-oxidant values which is something measured by their "Oxygen Radical Absorbent Capacity" or ORAC.
  • Anthocyanins are flavonoid category of poly-phenolic compounds found in some "blue fruits" like blue-black grapes, mulberries, acai berry, chokeberries, blueberries, blackberries, and in many vegetables featuring blue or deep purple color. Eating fruits rich in blue pigments offers many health benefits. These compounds have potent anti-oxidant properties, remove free radicals from the body, and thus offer protection against cancers, aging, infections etc. These pigments tend to concentrate just underneath the skin.
  • Fruit’s health benefiting properties are because of their richness in vitamins, minerals, micro-nutrients, anti-oxidants which helps body prevent or at least prolong the natural changes of aging by protecting and rejuvenating cells, tissues and organs in the human body. The overall benefits are manifold! Fruit nutrition benefits are infinite!
Plus citrus fruits like oranges, grapefruit, and lime are good for your skin complexion!

Here are some of my favorite fruits..

1. Watermelon.. it's perfect for summer! I love eating watermelon to the extent that I can consume a whole! :D

2. Papaya.. :D Many people believes that papaya's can lighten your skin and can help remove wrinkles..

 3. Mangoes! Philippines' National Fruit..

4. Orange specifically sweet orange. Which is a hybrid ancient cultivated between pomelo and mandarin!
The Annoying Orange!

Didn't you notice that I love juicy fruits, did you? ^^

Hate It Yet Miss It

Riding the LRT or the Light Rail Transit.
Taking the LRT on my way to somewhere is actually no big deal, since I don't YET have my own wheels to drive I need to commute. And taking the LRT is one of the most convenient but not expensive.

The other day (April 10), when I went to my University to enroll for the summer classes I took the LRT for the ride. It's convenient nga kasi. :P

Asking what made me hate taking the LRT for ride?
It is when the passengers are pushing each other just to make themselves fit in.
Holy crap! We're like sardines here!
Shoulders to shoulders. Elbows to elbows. That's the scenario.
The scenario that makes me wanna scream "Damn it! Where's your manners? FVCK IT!"
Oh well, enough said..

And now.. curious about what made me miss that o_O scenario?
I miss it when we're there standing in the middle of the train attentively he envelopes me in his arms to protect me from the crashing crowd. And then he'll ask, "Okay ka lang? (Are you alright?)" I'll just nod and smile as an answer and then he'll give the that sweet smile and give ma a kiss in my forehead.

*End of Story

It is not a big thing but it makes my heart dance in the rain. C;

There will be a summer music camp this coming April 16 - 29 and it will be held somewhere in Makiling. And the facilitators held and will held another audition to minimize the number of participants. The first audition day is yesterday April 10 and the next one will be held tomorrow April 12, both at the National Museum.

I went there yesterday just after I enrolled for my summer class, together with Elmer, Jayson and Angelito. I went there to give them moral support, especially to Elmer. I did not took the audition since the camp will occupy dates of my summer class and I am also sure that I can't make it in the auditions. (YES, I am a pessimistic kind of person and this is how I used to be.) But I am still considering of taking the audition tomorrow, just for experience, and if ever, just if ever I make it there well, it's an achievement for me.

I'm sure that he can make it in the audition and definitely will join that 2-weeks summer camp. Ergo, he will be away for that soo-looong period of time. Last night when I am thinking of the thought.. it feels like... "WTF! 2 weeks?! 14 days?! 336 hours?! duuuuuuuuuuh. -_____________-  Okay Nikka, you're OA." I will really really really miss him, for sure! Ugh. >.< I can't say that it pisses me off because I can see that he is really happy with it and he really loves what he does. It's just I can't help to feel a little bit sad.
As his girl, I'm supporting him in what he want. I am saying here that it is a must for me to do so because I am his girl and I am not doing this just because I need to 'cause hey, I also love what I do. Seeing him being happy makes me happy, too. I love what I do as much as I love him.

Easter Sunday 2012

Guess who's pairs of foot these belongs to?
My partner's and mine.
I took this photo while we are sitting outside the church during the mass. We were not able to go inside beacuse it looks like that the church will explode. It's fully loaded.
I don't know what came into my mind that made me took a photo of our foots.

I woke up at 2:20 AM. (Philippine Time)
I don't feel well but I still manage to join my band at the procession called 'salubong', another Filipino Tradition during the Holy Week.
This is in celebration of the came back of Jesus into life.
Even that I had not have enough sleep and not feeling well, I don't regret joining the procession.
This photo (at the left side) is the photos which I combined.
As I was saying earlier that we are waiting outside the church, we were sitting under those small trees.
I took those photos maybe because of my love for nature. ;)
And later this afternoon I opened my halo-halo business.
Halo-halo (from Tagalog word halò, "mix") is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and  evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl.

Sneak peak of my band...
KAPISANAN BANDA ONSE (11) of Pulong Buhangin,
Sta.Maria, Bulacan.
And FYI we celebrated our very first anniversary last April 05, 2012.
We just don't band, we bond. ;>

Say hello to my friends! They help us to get through our PABASA this year. PABASA is a Filipino tradition held during the Holy Week were we have to finish read the book Passion.
Our pabasa started Monday night until Tuesday afernoon. The pabasa is non-stop reading, not just reading but with rhythm.
Do you want to see how they did it? You better watch the video that I provided. :)

I bet that if they knew that I uploaded it here, they'll hit me 'til I die. HAHA!

See how great Filipino culture and tradition is? ;>

This' For You

This is for Miss April Santos.
Sorry. I know this is not enough for all those not so good things I've done.
Sorry for those unpleasing words I've uttered to you, maybe it's bacause I'm not matured enough and maybe bacause I am sort of... lacking self confidence.

Kung gusto mo isa-isahin, name it para i-confirm ko kung ginawa ko nga.. uhm, stalking you on twitter and facebook.. and ung last nga.. yung status ko which I saw on your update.. Hindi ko gustong makipag away sa'yo.. hindi ko gustong umabot sa ganito, na hindi pa man tayo nagiging magkaibigan eh parang malabo na (or malabo naman talaga?). Sabihin mo nang assuming ako para sabihing may possibility na maging magkaibigan tayo, eh pasensya na.. Sorry..."

There are still many thoughts that runs in my mind but I don't know how to say to you.

I don't know if you'll be able to drop by here in my blog and fortunately would read this.

"April 6 ngayon, birthday mo di ba, wishing you a happy birthday.."

Happy Birthday Michelle!

Happy Birthday Mshel! :))
Words are not enough to let you know how much I care and love you but let me say the words..
I Love You, a lot! :))
Thank you for being born. :))
Thank you for letting me enter your world and for painting my world another colour of yours..
I remember that you are the first one to greet me and even offer the seat beside you on the first day of the classes. I didn't thought for that less than a year after meeting you, you're now a true friend to me.
I hope that we will still be like before for the rest of our lives.
I'm wishing you all the best! :))

Take care!
I Love You girl!

Light in Shade

"If you could pass my logic, I can't take it if you will not make it in Accountancy and in the board exam. Because my logic is not like to that of the other professor's. They don't know how to teach symbolic logic. I bet you surely can make it in Accountancy since Accounting is more of understanding. Remember that your Logic is quiet above them all." -Prof. Richard Verania

Those where the words that Prof. Richard Verania uttered on our last day of meeting him in the class.
I am glad that I did make it in my Logic (Logic with Introduction to Philosophy) class.

I never thought of hearing words like that from this professor.
For the entire semester he is very strict, cold and hi-profile. He never show us that he could be good to us until that very last day of our Logic class.

Prof. Verania is very known in the university.
He is the only one to master teaching symbolic logic.
Some professor are sometimes joining his class or what we call sit-in to hear his lecture.
He computes grade in the system of 40% for assignments, quizzes, and seatworks and 60% for the major exams, so if you fail on the major exam, don't think that you still can make it.
He doesn't give so much considerations when it comes to gradings.

There is a point that he has this student major in Accounting and she is in her last year in the course. She is just taking up review subjects and this minor Logic. To her surprise she didn't make it. She didn't graduate. Another thing, there are students that took Logic for 3 semesters because he is always the assigned prof! Aaaah!
It's devastating, isn't it?
That's why I am so happy that I did make it

I did not mention those things to make his image bad or whatsoever, I am just proud of those people that also passed the subject.

I am already losing hope with my course because it gets more difficult semester after semester. But thanks a lot to his words, I am enlightened. ;)

April Fools'

It's April!
April 1 (exactly 12am) and it's April Fools'!
It is not an official holiday, but today, it is legal to be foolish and play all kind of jokes.
The day is marked by the commission of good-humoured or otherwise funny jokes, hoaxes, and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, teachers, neighbors, work associates, etc.

Being fool sometimes is not that bad, especially when you need to be, remember that I said 'sometimes' so don't make it a hobby baby.
You don't want to be fooled? Ergo, you should not fool anybody intentionally. Keep that in mind, okay? :)

A sense of humor is the ability to understand a joke-and that the joke is oneself. ~Clifton Paul Fadiman

Happy April Fools' everybody!
